to purchase outright our "STAR RAY" AIRBOAT PROJECT.
"STAR RAY" is an air-propelled 2-seater (with multi
passenger potential) marine craft with aircraft-type undercarriage and
detachable skis or floats (interchangeable), designed for use in all
areas where underwater hazards exist or access is difficult.
Designed and built by Ray Dawson using the expertise of a world-renowned
engineer specialising in stress factors, hydrodynamics and aerodynamics,
the craft has commercial, leisure or military applications.
The airboat was inspired when on a visit to Thailand, it was noticed
the need for another option for negotiating the root clogged waterways.
Conventional craft rely on a long-shafted drive unsuitable for shallow
water or wetlands. The "STAR RAY" offers an innovative
approach to solving the problem.
The "STAR RAY" has been developed to prototype stage
(as per photographs) with detachable floats. A jet boat and speedboat
have also been successfully produced from the same hull mould.
"STAR RAY" specifications include:
- FAN: 4 bladed ground adjustable shrouded system with 9 static blades
to acquire maximum thrust with minimum noise. It has 3000 maximum
R.P.M..
- Controlled steering eliminating drift of conventional craft.
- Engineer's specifications indicated that with a 100 hp motor the
craft should travel 60 mph over water and in excess of 100 mph over
ice.
- Two-seater craft with multi passenger potential.
- Potential for hydrofoil attachments or skis for use in snow country.
- Designed to take surface breaker foils on the front, and a rear
foil surface ride.
